Corey Feldman, known for his role in “Stand By Me,” expressed regret over not being included in the Oscars tribute to Rob Reiner earlier this month.

During the Academy Awards’ in memoriam segment, Billy Crystal honored the late filmmaker and his spouse, photographer Michele Reiner, who both passed away in December. Crystal introduced the tribute.

Following Crystal, a group of celebrities from Reiner’s notable films, including “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally,” “This Is Spınal Tap,” and “Misery,” took to the stage. The group included stars such as Demi Moore, Kevin Pollak, Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Michael McKean, Annette Bening, Kathy Bates, Mandy Patinkin, Cary Elwes, Daphne Zuniga, Christopher Guest, Carol Kane, and Kiefer Sutherland.

In a discussion with Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming 40th anniversary re-release of “Stand By Me,” where he starred with River Phoenix, Jerry O’Connell, and Wil Wheaton—the latter two having appeared at the Oscars—Feldman shared his thoughts.

“Jerry and Wil did what was necessary,” Feldman remarked. “It was a brief moment, so I don’t feel like I missed out on much. Even though their presence was commendable, I would have appreciated hearing from Wil, Jerry, and a few others on stage.”

He continued, “It felt somewhat like a family reunion that I wasn’t part of. It is what it is… I just want to express that I, along with many others, am devastated by how things unfolded.”

Feldman noted that there were initial plans for events with Reiner to celebrate the film’s milestone, which have now been minimized.

“We all would have cherished the opportunity to bid farewell in our personal ways. Sadly, that opportunity wasn’t available,” he explained. “The best way to say goodbye now is by honoring his legacy and his contributions… and hopefully, by gathering to celebrate his memory on the big screen, where it truly belongs.”

The Reiners were tragically discovered deceased in their home on December 14. Their son, Nick Reiner, faces charges of first-degree murder in the case.

As an adult, Feldman has openly identified himself as a survivor of child sexual abuse. His 2020 documentary, “My Truth: The Rape of 2 Coreys,” details his and the late Corey Haim’s experiences, alleging they were both repeatedly abused as children.

In 2020, Feldman faced sexual assault accusations from several women, which he has denied. These allegations surfaced shortly after his appointment to the Sag-Aftra sexual harassment committee, leading to his removal from the position.
