Former Vice President Joe Biden is leading his campaign with a focus on rebuilding the middle class, renewing American values and building a democracy that includes everyone. He has campaigned in support of expanding the Affordable Care Act and to protect it from continued attacks, though he does not support Medicare for All or a universal health coverage plan.

Biden has proposals to tackle the greatest public health challenges such as gun violence, cancer, diabetes, dementia and addiction.

Out of $36,760,280 that Biden raised so far in the 2020 elections:

  • $1,272,766 has been linked to the Health sector
  • $674,631 has been linked to health professionals
  • $302,893 has been linked to hospitals/nursing homes
  • Weitz & Luxenburg, a medical malpractice law firm, is one of his largest contributors, donating $99,695

His Record

On March 23, 2010 Vice President Biden stood by President Obama’s side while he signed the historic Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law. Biden vows to protect and build on the ACA.

From His Website

As president, Biden will protect the Affordable Care Act from these continued attacks. He opposes every effort to get rid of this historic law – including efforts by Republicans, and efforts by Democrats. Instead of starting from scratch and getting rid of private insurance, he has a plan to build on the Affordable Care Act by giving Americans more choice, reducing health care costs, and making our health care system less complex to navigate.

  • “Give every American access to affordable health insurance
  • “Provide the peace of mind of affordable, quality health care and a less complex health care system
  • “Stand up to abuse of power by prescription drug corporations
  • “Ensure health care is a right for all, not a privilege for just a few.”
