The United States Air Force has awarded Boeing a $2.38 billion contract to build 22 F-15EX Eagle II jets. This funding was sourced from money already allocated by Congress, allowing for purchases to be made ahead of the fiscal year cutoff.

Boeing will build 22 F-15EX jets under the Lot 7 contract.

This contract falls under Lot 7, which considers the current state of the program. It accounts for the anticipated production challenges in 2025 and the impact of inflation on the defense sector, as stated in a recent announcement.

“Lot 7 represents a methodical strategy for using the resources we have while considering the pressures on defense manufacturing,” said Brig. Gen. Timothy Helfrich, the acquisition executive for the Fighters and Advanced Aircraft Directorate, in a statement.

He further emphasized that the focus has been on maintaining affordability, continuous production, and providing the aircraft necessary to upgrade the U.S. Air Force’s fighter fleet in response to current and future threats.

The deal also highlights how the Pentagon is applying new principles of acquisition transformation. It includes forming an F-15 negotiation team aimed at enhancing the efficiency and speed of deliveries, according to the announcement.

The finance for this Lot 7 contract was drawn from the 2026 fiscal budget and an additional reconciliation act known as One Big Beautiful Bill, which mandates that funds be utilized before the end of the fiscal year on September 30 to avoid reductions in the allocated amounts.
