Civil Service Pension Blunder: Retiree Owed £21,300 Five Months Post-Retirement!

January 24, 2026

Civil service pension scheme owes me £21,300, five months after retiring

The Unanswered Complaints Regarding Unpaid Pensions

Having retired from the civil service five months prior, I am yet to receive my pension payments. Despite multiple complaints lodged with the Civil Service Pension Scheme (MyCSP), there has been no response from their side.

Seeking Help from the Pensions Ombudsman

The Pensions Ombudsman has indicated that they require proof that MyCSP has neglected to respond to my complaints. I am at a loss as to how to document and prove non-communication.

In a report released in June, the National Audit Office highlighted MyCSP for its deteriorating service quality following a significant increase in complaints, specifically pointing to delays in pension valuations and payments.

Previously, the administration of the pension scheme was handled by MyCSP on behalf of the Cabinet Office, until the management was transferred to Capita this current month. The Cabinet Office informed me that they were awaiting details from my former employer, who, on the other hand, assured me that such information had been sent weeks earlier.

MyCSP has professed to maintaining high service standards, yet they have not addressed my specific situation. Nevertheless, after the issue was raised, a backdated pension amounting to £21,300 was disbursed six days later.
