‘Variable Enforcement’ of Schengen Passport Rules Leads to Passenger Rejections at Borders by Airlines
This summer, some British travelers bound for Scandinavia may face denial at the boarding gate if they possess an older passport, due to uneven enforcement of Schengen Area regulations.
A British artist reached out to The Guardian after being prevented from boarding a Norwegian flight because her passport was issued “more than nine years and nine months ago”. She was attempting to travel from Gatwick airport to Copenhagen.
